and with Dinner.
Q.
Are the ingredients in OsteoTrim
safe?
All of the ingredients in my products fall under the FDA's GAAS Standard
(Generally Accepted As Safe) Also significant research and review
has been conducted on each ingredient. To date all of the ingredients
have been reported to be safe and well tolerated in studies. We use
pharmacy grade herbal extracts to provide the greatest purity, consistency
and potency. The raw ingredients and the final product is test and
analyzed to insure safety, purity and formulation. OsteoTrim is manufactured
in the United States in FDA Certified Facilities in accordance with
GMP standards.
Q.
I am allergic to Aspirin is
it OK to take OsteoTrim?
Yes, it is OK to take OsteoTrim. There are no reports or studies that
we are aware of indicating any allergic reactions for individuals
with an aspirin allergy. For your reference if you have an aspirin
allergy you should avoid the following herbal supplement ingredients
(NONE of these are in my products): meadowsweet, white willow tree
(Salix alba), crack willow (Salix fragilis), purple willow (Salix
purpurea), and violet willow (Salix daphnoides). White willow is the
most commonly used of the above herbal pain supplements. Those plants
containing salicin- which is converted in the body to salicylic acid
which is almost identical chemically to aspirin and should be avoided
by anyone with an aspirin allergy.
Q.
Are there any precautions?
As with all supplements and foods, allergic reactions could occur.
If you have a known allergic reaction to pineapple the ingredient
Bromelain (made from pineapple) may cause an allergic reaction. Of
course if you develop any allergic reaction type symptoms, please
discontinue using the product immediately and consult your physician.
Also
if you have a know allergy to shellfish it is recommended you not
take Glucosamine and this product should not be taken by you. Two
small studies, with a total of 22 people, showed that people with
shellfish allergy could take glucosamine without allergic reactions.
These studies suggest that glucosamine does not contain shellfish
proteins, and can be safely taken by people with shellfish allergy.
However,
given the small number of people studied to date, it would be prudent
for people with shellfish allergy to check with their physician prior
to taking glucosamine. A referral to an allergist may be warranted,
with the consideration of a medically supervised oral challenge to
glucosamine.
If
you are currently being treated with any of the following medications,
you should not use bromelain without first talking to your healthcare
provider.
Antibiotics
In a clinical study, the combination of bromelain and amoxicillin
increased the levels of this antibiotic in the blood. Some studies
suggest that bromelain may increase the body's ability to absorb
tetracycline, but results of other studies have been conflicting.
Until studies confirm these results, it would be wise to avoid combining
bromelain and tetracycline.
Studies with bromelain and tetracycline have produced mixed results.
Some research suggests that bromelain increases levels of tetracycline
in the body, while others indicate that it may cause more of the
antibiotic to be excreted in the urine.
Blood-thinning
Medications
People taking aspirin, warfarin, or other medications that thin
the blood should use bromelain with extreme caution because of a
possible risk of bleeding when used together.
Adverse
reactions could occur with any supplement or drug. We recommend that
you always discuss the use of any supplement with your health care
professional. As with the majority of supplements, studies regarding
the effect on fetal and nursing babies are limited so we do not recommend
its use by pregnant or nursing women.
Q.
